The Retired Men's Club
The RMC, as it has come to be affectionately known, meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Every meeting is started by a luncheon at noon, followed by the business meeting and entertainment or short program. The leadership of the club is decided by the members annually with the approval of the Grand Knight. The chairman of the RMC is the President, who is assisted by an elected Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Among the activities within the club are the RMC Bowling League that currently bowls every Thursday morning at the Glenmont Bowling Alley. In addition to season play, the league also sponsors tournaments, luncheons, awards banquets and other special events. The League also selects a President and Treasurer at the beginning of each season. The Retired Men's Club also sponsors a travel program. Short day trips and multiple day bus trips to various locations give members the opportunity to see New York at Christmas, the Poconos, or Williamsburg. Outlets and special events are sometimes featured. Turnout is usually fantastic, and all proceeds go to the Council.
In addition to the many activities within the club, many of the members of the Retired Men's Club remain very active within the Council programs, serving in various offices, working on committees, at Bingo, or spending hour after hour maintaining the physical plant.
The prosperity of a Council depends upon the ability of that Council to replenish its membership. The RMC has for many years been a major recruiting advantage that has yielded extraordinary members. At Father Rosensteel Council, prosperity comes in bunches, but new membership is not always the youngest...it is often the RETIRED.
